Here you can book an online appointment for travel medicine advice, vaccination advice, or a vaccination review.

Please select the appropriate category when booking your appointment. If the wrong category is selected, we may not be able to carry out the consultation as planned and will need to reschedule it.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment to allow enough time for registration.
 

When to book

For travel medicine advice, we recommend booking an appointment 4 to 8 weeks before departure. Travel vaccinations should be completed at least 14 days before travel. You should therefore book an appointment well in advance, preferably 4 to 8 weeks before departure. Even for last-minute travel plans, it is a good idea to seek travel health advice, as individual vaccinations are often still possible.

For vaccination advice or a vaccination review, no specific lead time is required – you can book an appointment based on availability.
 

Tariff

Our services are billed according to the standard medical time-based tariff, TARDOC (➔ see price list). Vaccines, their administration, and their documentation in your vaccination record are charged separately. For vaccination series (e.g. primary immunisation), each individual dose is payable on the day it is administered.

Payment

Payment is made on site, on the day of the appointment. We accept card payments (Maestro, PostFinance, Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club), as well as Twint. Cash payments, invoicing or direct billing through your health insurance are not possible. 

Cost coverage by your health insurance provider

You will receive a reimbursement form for your health insurance provider. What is covered depends on the type of service:

• Vaccinations in accordance with the Swiss vaccination schedule: Compulsory health insurance generally covers the recommended vaccinations and vaccinations for people at increased risk – provided your deductible has been met.
• Travel medicine services and travel vaccinations: These are not generally considered mandatory benefits under compulsory health insurance (KVG) and are usually not covered. Some supplementary insurance policies reimburse the costs in full or in part – the arrangements vary.
• Treatment of illnesses after travel: This is billed under the KVG and covered by compulsory health insurance, less the deductible and excess.
• HPV vaccination: Free of charge and exempt from the deductible under the cantonal programmes in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft for adolescents and young adults resident in Basel-Stadt or Basel-Landschaft until their 27th birthday.

Please check directly with your health insurer in advance whether and to what extent your costs will be reimbursed.
 

Cancelling an appointment

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance – by phone at +41 61 284 82 55 or by email at tropmed@swisstph.ch. Appointments not cancelled in time will be invoiced in accordance with TARDOC.

Appointments can only be made via our online booking system or by calling us at +41 61 284 82 55. We do not accept appointment bookings or medical queries by email, and these will not be considered.
