About Us

Every year, around 16,000 travellers come to the Centre for Tropical and Travel Medicine for advice on all aspects of travel medicine and vaccination against common diseases. We are also here for you after your trip: as Switzerland’s largest competence center in tropical and travel medicine, we can also diagnose and treat rare travel diseases competently and quickly.
 

The Centre for Tropical and Travel Medicine is part of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). With around 1,000 employees, Swiss TPH is Switzerland’s largest research institute in the field of public health and global health. For almost 80 years, the Swiss TPH in Basel and its medical team have been providing a medical contact point for travellers from all over the region. We regularly liaise with experts from around the world and maintain close contact with health facilities, hospitals and cantonal authorities. Because of our expertise, we are often called upon to provide advice and consultancy services.
